The FCIDB is a unique community of brokers and financial institutions brought together by common interests and to dialogue on the many challenges facing our industry.

Discover the value of belonging to a community of like-minded individuals whose mandate is to champion the rights of deposit clients, to ensure that the regulatory environment for deposit brokers is fair, to help members in their business and with their clients and to promote a healthy competitive and growth environment.

The values you receive when you become a member with the FCIDB are:

• ADVOCACY: The FCIDB is the industry voice with government and policy makers that specifically represents deposit clients and independent deposit brokers. Through its continued involvement in industry matters the FCIDB has obtained a pivotal position within the financial community.

• DESIGNATIONS: The FCIDB offers an industry recognized educational course for members that leads to Certified Deposit Specialist (CDS), Registered Deposit Broker (RDB) or Registered Deposit Agent (RDA) designations.

• CONTINUING EDUCATION: Receive up to 30 CE credits for successfully completing the Canadian Deposit Self Study Course. The number of CE Credits for the annual national conference varies.

• ON-LINE REFERENCE GUIDE: The Financial Institution Products & Services Guide is a collection of profiles outlining various products and services, including a section on policies and procedures and a contact directory. Member deposit brokers have a distinct advantage over non-members who do not have access to information of this quality and quantity.

• PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:

The FCIDB advocates standards of professional conduct in areas of:

  • protecting consumer interests
  • licensing and agency agreements
  • administrative issues

A code of professional ethics serves as a guiding document for its members and covers the following main issues:

  • conduct
  • compliance
  • advertising
  • place of business
  • confidentiality
  • knowledge to client
  • responsibility to other deposit brokers
  • responsibility to the FCIDB
